We have a new vendor with parts becoming available for the home builder. One of them is the new DP28 front end assembly. These were made about 4 months ago and use them to build the MGS kits into complete semi auto rifles. They found it necessary to do this as the kits that were left/available were poorly demilled. Front site bases destroyed, gas tubes cut through, barrel shrouds cut through threads etc etc etc. Not to mention the interrupted barrel threads ....
This is a uniform diameter .38/9mm barrel blank. The outside diameter is about .800 inches and the length is about 18 3/4 inches. The weight of a single barrel is 2 pounds, 2.6 ozs. The main middle receiver piece is located to the jig via the take down pivot. Mountthis main middle piece on and slide it back until firmly against the pressed in take down pin and clamp into place. The rear piece is located via the rear pin and also is clamped into place. The front pieces vary depending on the demil. This jig will do a couple different scenarios. The jig is designed so you can weld the receiver together with the barrel in place.
Once welded the headspace will need to be corrected. This jig is designed to be a little tight, so to correct the headspace you would use a headspace guage, and trim the bolt locking flaps (a very small amount) to open the headspace ....
