For the last few years I wanted to get started casting Aluminum. Last fall I almost started but decided it was something I will never get started. Well here we are, Fall time again, I changed my mind and want to get started, now or never.

While waiting for my mill accessories to arrive I started to research the topic again.

I read up on lost wax and think it is fascinating and will add that to my want to do someday list. Problem is I am not sure what I what to cast yet.

Then there is the lost foam technique, I have a project in mind: The Gingery Metal Shaper. The funny thing is until a couple weeks ago I did not even know what a metal shaper was. I had a conversion with Gundoc and got hooked. I need to have a metal shaper. Even funnier is that I am not really what I will use the shaper for.

It seems to me making foam forms would be more enjoyable than working with green sand.

I've always wanted to have a shaper so I could put a grinder on it.    Might be the easiest way to get a surface grinder.
