I just got 10 rounds of wolf 6.5 Grendel to feed roughly through my new AK drum (romanian copy of chinese version). I was prompted to test this when I noticed the ammount of horizontal back and forth movement the 7.62x39 rounds had when the back lid was closed... If I latch the lid, the grendel barely squeaks by, but if I unlatch it and give it the extra hundredth of an inch or so, it feeds just fine. Bending those latches out a tiny bit would probably be enough to make it work.

Thought some of you might be interrested to know... maybe spot weld an AR mag to the top (which, incidently, is where most of the hang ups happen) and have yourself a decent set up.

As an update, the wolf steel case stuff fits just like the 7.62x39, lid fully closed and latched, and appears to have no problem going through the tower.

6.5 grendel, thoroughly neutered in order to pander to the limitations and restrictions of the AR-15.. sad, 6.5 ammo could be loaded 5,000 PSI higher and have far more magazine options if it retained its taper and pressure limits of the original 7.62x39 case

If it didn't fit an existing platform, it would probably still be a little known wildcat.

unfortunately though i think they made it to fit the wrong system because of the serious compromises that had to be made for it to work with the AR15.. the AK is much more versatile and doesnt really need to be pandered to as its so easy to stretch out an AK action for a longer round, shrink it for a shorter one, and the standard bolts can hold up to .308 levels of bolt thrust and a maximum rim diameter of over 14mm.. far more flexible

anyway, thats not really on topic or the point.. have you considered using an AR-15 magazine adapter for your AK?.. i thought about a 6.5 grendel AK build and figured the easiest way to skirt any magazine issues would be to use one of the permanently fixed magazine adapters like the one sold by canis, so AR 6.5 mags could be used... added bonus is the adapters contain a functioning last round bolt hold open device and bolt release to work with the AK

Ten shot SKS box works with a bit of bending to allow the wider shoulders to fit.
