From our friends at JFPFO.  This is a great build tutorial on building a bolt action rifle.   I wish all of our build threads were this elegant.

http://www.jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/boltaction.htm

This is an organization we all should support.  No better friend of our Constitution exists.

JFPFO has given Weaponeer.net permission to duplicate the build tutorial in our forum--and we are making this a member project.    There are 10 parts to this book (pdf files).  Each part needs to be broken out and posted here in the thread.  Members that are willing to donate their time and expertise to this project will be rewarded.

Below you will find downloadable PDF's for each section, as well as a web version of the same thing for those with slower connections.

PART I (217KB) or web
PART II (259KB) or web
PART III (500KB) or web
PART IV (665KB) or web
PART V (1.1MB)
PART VI (1.0MB)
PART VII (1.1MB)
PART VIII (1.5MB)
PART IX (1.1MB)
PART X (700KB)

I would suggest signing up for JFPFO email alerts and joining to support the 2nd.

Funny x 1

I would love to do this, if not for many other projects that have a lower number waiting in the line. I would probably do a shorter version of the action, which would necessitate many of the parts being custom made to match the dimensions, with the receiver being designed around short cartridges of assault rifle size rather than full rifle size.

Scaling this thing down and building a milled steel rimfire bolt action would be a great project as well.

What software are you going to use to break the thread out?

Just a copy and paste...

and the photos I copy into paint, and then use picnik (http://www.picnik.com) to edit the photo for size (width of 500).

I just paste it in, edit it quickly and it's done...  does not take too long
