The drawings look really nice. the only thing I see that is needed are tolerances. Any help with those, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone had any experience machining one of these? Any words of wisdom before I start cutting into one.

Bolts: standard mil spec 8620 (used to be called carpenter 15, SAE9310 for performance
Carriers: I believe this is just common steel/stainless. Many use 416 stainless. The pressure is really on the bolt and not so much the carrier. Alot of 3gunners like lightened/ drilled out carriers.

The bolt is case-hardened to a depth of .010-.015 and a surface hardness of 45 Rockwell (I think). The back ends of the locking lugs get ground after hardening to ensure they all touch the corresponding lugs on the barrel extension. I would not recommend lightening the carrier - the sub-rifle length gas systems (from what I have read) attempt to extract the case too early, which breaks a lot of bolts. There are several patents I am aware of that offer improvements to the bolt geometry and improves the performance in the shorter gas systems.

in the "bolt carrier face and cross section" file, can you include the ramp face dimenions that is on the front of the carrier, bottom? namely the width of the bcg bottom flat.
