Recently were told these go for $1200 to $4000(?).

Isn't this and SBR?, with a 14" barrel?

I saw one of these 20-25 years ago at a flea market for $150 but it didn't have a mag  and not knowing what it was I passed! I'm glad I dd though, no SBR paper work required-lol

I wish somebody would make a 80% parts set with a 16" barrel or even just some key parts CNC'd would be cool.

This tread is too interesting to let it fade away . A lot of parts including a complete bolt are available at Sarco. Looking over the prints I think the most important part to start is the receiver .

The receiver can be started with buying a thick walled tube, 3 3/4" long 1 1/8" OD 3/4"ID . The OD needs to be turned down, the ends squared to length and the ID honed to .753~>759 . The cutouts can be marked by applying a paper template . like the ones you can find for stens . Once fitted to a frame the rest would be rather easy except for the barrel. Wher can you get a .809 x 24 Tap and die ?

Thats the easy part, just buy a barrel  blank and use a 13/16X20, or a 3/4X24 tap and die. The hard part is the cost of most of the other parts that could be made, but would be a real pain in the ass of around 500.00 +. Its a good idea but, a little too rich for my bank account for a single shot 22.
