Ok so, just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a set of parts to make your own box that would accept all military parts for a dummy build. Basically the parts would include everything needed to make a very real looking dummy gun that could be configured either way. The parts will all be in spec. Since they will be in spec you can accessorize as you please. If you have a kit sitting in the closet cause you can't afford to make a semi auto, you should be able to afford to make a dummy with this kit. Right now it is in the development stage and will be ready to ship soon. Also should be very affordable. Keep in mind they will require some minor skills to assemble but nothing major. I will post pics soon.
Right now i am just trying to gauge interest to see if i should make a lot of these or just a couple. Thoughts anyone?

Awesome! I will post pics of what i have going right now. Like i said, they are being developed right now and for the purpose of helping to raise funds for the site.

Myself and Mmike had the idea. If you have seen his post's, he made a very realistic barrel from different sizes of pipe so you don't necessarily need a parts kit to make this dummy. I was also thinking it could be easily adaptable to a gas gun set up as well.

There will be a couple of different options to choose from as well. This picture is of a drilling template that has all the holes for both the left and right sides in 1. They are marked so you could use this to accuratley drill either a left plate or a right plate with 1 reusable template.

In these pictures you can see that the left side specific holes are marked with an L. The holes circled in yellow (caution) are right side specific holes that are marked so if you are drilling a left plate, you don't drill those holes.

Then, simply flip the jig over to mark a right side. All the right side holes are marked and the left holes are yellow. If the hole are not marked at all, they are used for both sides. It is all laid out in spec so original parts will fit.

Today i started to make more of these. I was thinking of making 2 right plates, 2 left plates, and 1 drill jig. We are also in the process of developing an entire set for the whole box assembly, (see pic below). It will require some skill to assemble it all but you don't have to be a pro to get professional results, especially if you add real parts to it. But if you are skilled and tight with $$$'s like me, you can make a lot of the parts yourself rather then spend for the real parts.

The point of this is to allow the average joe with an average garage to make his own dummy. A very realistic dummy. The slots for the charging handle and the bullets/belt are not cut out yet. If they are cut out then blocking bars need to be added to prevent real parts from being added. If you would like them cut out, then blocker bars will be added, but cost goes up slightly. like i said, there will be many options available to try to fit everyone's skill level.

I do think these would be great for a gas gun build.

Just so everyone knows, i will do a tutorial on assembling the box. These parts are based on the prints from the CD i sell here. Also, the drill jig will have the outside shape cut as well. I should have more pics to show the drill jig this weekend. I should mention that the drill jig is not made to repair a cut side plate. Its purpose is to allow fabrication of a dummy side plate from readily avaliable materials. It could be used to drill or repair a side plate though. Every hole, as well as length and width of the template are mil spec.

Here are some pics of the drill jig. This could be used to make a left plate or a right plate. It could be used to make several. It is re-usable. Actually, you could weld up the side specific holes and use this as a plate. The cut outs will be scribed. Notice the extra holes? They form the radius of the cut outs! It is already the right height and width. It also happens to be the right thickness. After using this to drill the plates, the plates are then ready for shaping. I will show some of the other parts/ steps, needed to make this look real.

I have 4 of these drill jigs made. Is there any interest? I am also working on the parts for the top and bottom covers as well.

You could actually use the drill jig as a side plate if some of the holes get welded up and dressed.

Any interest?
