Hello Everybody!
I recently acquired my first gun (a Mossberg 702 "plinkster", .22lr). While I got it at a steal (~$100 new in box) I ended up spending over $100 more on this "butt stock" and magazine. While most of you would consider this an extremely low budget build, it was a little pricey for me (A high school student hobbying off of my own money). I tried to keep the dimensions as close as possible. I messed up in a few places, and rushed a few others, but I am satisfactorily proud of the end result.
One of the problems with the Mossberg 702 plinkster is that Mossberg currently only sells 10 round magazines. Thats no fun! So I purchased an extra 10 round magazine and a Remingon 597 (30/31 rnd) magazine and made my own 1299 magazine. Making the 1299 magazine was probably the hardest part of the whole build, and I currently can only get 29 of the 31 rounds in, but close enough.
I present, the M1919A4 Plinkster...
I plan on shooting this at my local gun shop tomorrow, and should get a video up soon.
Thanks,
Tanner Frisby
P.S. A big thanks to all of the veterans who have kept this great nation's freedom.

Got to shoot it today! Loads of fun, but the charging handle seems to be too heavy, leaving this blow back as a bolt action. Also, occasional ejection problems.
Forgot to mention above, the "1299" magazine (Rem. 597 + Moss. 702) was initially see through. When I painted it black (to match the gun) I left 10, 20, and 29/30 round markers clear. These are the "stars" visible in the magazine.
Hopefully I can reduce the charging handle's weight so I can fire this semi auto.
Thanks,
Tanner Frisby

Well, the range owner told me I could bring the m1919a4 shell back to shoot once I finished another build. Today I finished a Thompson sub machine gun build. The 1919a4 now fires semi, but has ejection problems. I would be fine leaving it as it is, however I had an out of battery detonation because of the ejection problems (the damn round wouldn't fire in the chamber, but it will detonate when it bounces back into the chamber!?!? WTF!) Anyway, I will need to open up the right side plate a little, and ruin the charging handle grove to allow expedient passage for spent (and live) cartridges.

That's incredible!
I've wanted to do a scratch 1919-style build for quite a while, but you've done an amazing job with this!
How'd you fabricate the side plates? What holds the two sides together? How would it look with a decoy belt of 308 hanging out the left side?

How'd you fabricate the side plates? Plain 10 ga sheet iron with a paper cut out taped on top (designed the paper cut out in CAD, I can send you the files if you would like), cut with an angle grinder, file and dremel.
What holds the two sides together? Left side plate is welded to the top, front and back plates. Right side plate is held on by three (slightly visible) set screws, two by the rear sight, one by the barrel. I used 90 degree angle iron for the set screws. See picrues 8, 12 and 14 for placement.
How would it look with a decoy belt of 308 hanging out the left side? Bad ass. I looked into this, and designed room for these to fit in, but have yet to front the money for them. By the end of Summer I am going to make a conglomerate video. By that time, I will make sure to have some of these: http://www.amazon.com/Military-Bullet-Belt-Bandoleer-Accesso ry/dp/B00460PQM2 (is this .308? I have roughly no background in firearms, but from what I can discern, this is .308 )
Thanks,

Hey Tanner, those do appear to be .308 size but it does not say for sure.
