What is the difference between and MG42 and MG34 they both shoot 8mm and seem similar are there parts interchangeable

The differences are a lot! But the main thing is that the receiver of the 34 is machined from a solid piece of steel and the 43 is made from sheet metal stamping's.
I do not believe the parts will interchange.

Think of it like the 1928 Thompson, beautifully machined, takes long to build, expensive......and the M3A1 Greasegun. Cheap, stamped out by machine, can make a bunch in the time it takes to make one Thompson. They both do the same job but the later can be made cheaper and quicker. The expediencies of war
