Hello, I need to make a new firing pin for a SA Uzi. It is a striker fire type of pin. I was wondering what material would yall recommend? I was thinking maybe 4140HT and turn that down. Heard some people say spring steel, was wondering what yalls thoughts. Thank you.

assuming your heat treating capabilities are limited, with such a small pin I would suggest prehardened 4140 HT or 17-4 PH. It will be plenty hard enough and tough enough, and you won't have to worry about warping or brittleness due to heat treating tool steels.   Avoid any sharp edges, polish well, and the pin will probably outlast the other parts in the uzi.
