I was looking at Skeleton stocks for a project Im working on and didnt want to pay $70-$100 dollars for one. I dug in my scrap metal and found some suitable material and made my own. I took some measurements from the stock on my AR and did a few cad drawings and a couple hours of machine work and presto a skeleton stock that cost $0. Its all 6061 Aluminum including the tubing and weighs about 1/2 pound.

This is a fake compensator I made for the same project. I started with a piece of 1 inch hex 6061 and milled and turned it. Then drilled some holes and countersunk them. I used the rifles front site screw to mount it on the rifle. My son loves the look.

Its going on a modified mossberg plinkster I picked up for $50. My son didnt like the plastic stock, so I am turing it into a pseudo AR. I have a piece of 2 inch schedule 80 black pvc that I am milling to make a handguard and building a receiver around the factory one using .063 6061 sheet metal and adding an AR pistol grip. I have an AR magazine that will attach to the factory magazine to complete the look. Im also machining my own picatinny rail from either 6061 or nylon bar stock.

Nice! That will be a good looking custom rifle judging from what you have done so far! I like the compensator.
I have an old mossberg .22, missing the bolt.
Thanks for sharing!

I will post more pics as I complete work. Next is the hand guard and an adapter to mount the stock and the grip. I still havent decided if I am going to make it a folder or use a take down pin to pop the stock on/off. Any suggestions appreciated. After this build I am going to finish my 91/30 mosin HB sniper rifle with collapsable stock and machined receiver housing.
