So my ORF Galil Micro came today and it looks so damn good! I can't wait until the jail time is over so I can take it home and put the parts in!

Now I know the hardest one is probably just the barrel head spacing. Does anyone have any recommendation how I should proceed on this?

Depends a little on the barrel, if the handguard retention cut, or ejector clearance cut is made, then you will need to time the barrel. Basicaly, you put the barrel in, once it bottoms out it should torque to about 110 ft.lbs. and the handguard retention cut should be at the 12 o clock position. If it is not, then either gring some of the shoulder off or add a shim depending on the position. I have had to do a couple of different things including cut the chamber end and re cut the ejector clearance cut. I also had to file one of the locking lugs on the bolt to get it to fully lock up. Be prepaired to put the barrel in and take it out seveal times.

I built my Galil ARM using the ORF receiver, in fact we had a build party to build them, and the receivers are very hit and miss...

If the Barrel times correctly, then you have a good one, and should have no problem at all.

If the barrel does not time correctly, thats when the fun starts...  You will either need the shims to get it to time, or... in worst case a lathe.

One other point about the receivers is the slot to mount the original Galil scope mount is too shallow and not too spec, and the scope mounts typically do not work.  In fact I have been trying to mod my mount to see if it will work.

Wow, that is cool! I wish I were there to check it out!

I have been trying very hard to fit that barrel, but it seems as I torque the barrel in slightly the bolt will close without a bullet, but will not when a live round is inside. In fact, the bolt is riding a bit high on the rail too as the bullet has bits shaved off the top when I try to push it in. About the barrel timing again, yeah, the bolt doesnt close with a live round unless I untwist it a little. I am guessing a shim would work?

I also did some shaving off the receiver to make sure the bolt carrier closes closely. However, it seems there is still off tolerance stuffs and the carrier wont closes fully. Im going to work on it more this upcoming weekends.

I would recomend that you get the rec. Rockweled to check and make sure its not too soft. ORF had a problem with heat treating. It needs to be between 40-46.
