I got a parts kit that came with a modified bolt, which is kinda nice. But then I have been thinking about the mechanism which the gun operates.

Here is the bolt carrier with the bolt all the way to the front

Here is the bolt carrier with the bolt all the back. How is the gun supposed to fire if the firing pin is not stuck by anything? The rod in the back is not even touching the firing pin?

Also I dont understand how this could function really. When you rack the bolt back, there is nothing to hold it back. The bolt slide immediately forward. I'd appreciate some help on this topic!

Here is a pic of the bottom of the bolt carrier. I think it was done too.

it looks like the bolt and carrier have been modified for semi auto

the pin in the "tower" on the carrier will need to be hit by the striker (which i dont see) which hits the firing pin--the striker stays to the rear -caught on the sa sear/dis. until fired

the sa rpd's that i've seen have no way to hold the carrier back while loading---its a pita

just my .02

Ohhh. I just figured it out I think. There are some mention about this weapon being a closed bolt instead of open bolt weapon. Therefore, the carrier must not be able to strike the primer by itself because it will be fired in closed bolt configuration. However There should be something else to strike the back of the bolt to then strike the pin and ignite primer. I need some pics of the semi parts.

Here is the pics. I am guessing the thing that strike back of the bolt, then the pin and primer would be the thing on upper left corner of this next pics?

Hey Yes that thing in the upper left is your striker.
The sa RPD does work from a closed bolt. The other parts are your fire control group.(FCG)  The lower of your kit will also need to be modified for those parts to go in. That long spring will go around the orig rat tail which goes through the striker and into that round depression on the back of the bolt carrier. This will be the new mainspring and guide for your striker. The orig. mainspring behind the rat tail will be the main spring for the bolt carrier.
once your lower is modded. the sear that holds the striker will be part of the FCG along with the semi auto trip for the trigger.
From the pics it looks like the job on your carrier is a good job. The fire pin should move back and forth so that when the striker hits it, it will fly forward and hit the primer in a chambered cartridge.
I will try to get pics of mine posted ASAP hope to be of help.
