This is for reference only.

The following are CAD models made from the blueprints available on weaponeer.net.

Due to some of the drawings being degraded to some degree, some of the models have a certain amount of extrapolation. Therefore I cannot guarantee accuracy.

I am posting them page at a time as I produce them, so here follows page one

I should point out that I will be making the full set of models available as a IGES files at the end of the whole process.

Thanks very much Northumbrian, you are a legend. I look forward to the iges files.  Those stg44 prints are can be hard to read, like the pg 16, Bolt Schnitt C-D. Good luck. Wish I knew CAD so I could help. I had better learn.

Your more than welcome just glad it's of some use to someone.

Some of the dimensions are missing or illegible but the drawing is fine, so it's not too difficult to extrapolate. But some of the drawings are just unusable, so I am having to make it up by using photos.

If you want to learn CAD there are a few free CAD packages available. I would say Draftsight by Dassault Systeme is about the best for 2D drawing, it's as good a place as any to start. Then when your happy with 2D progress to 3D.

3D CAD packages are few and far between for the free ones, but probably the best one to learn with is Powershape-e by Delcam.

Hope this helps

More will follow, just busy working on other things right now.

I know some CAD software will automatically create an image from a scan. Is that how you achieved this or did you have to create a line model first. I'm not a CAD user but seriously interested in it.

The software I use can produce a 3D model from a 2D image/scan, but I find it quicker to just create the model from scratch most of the time.

Most of the simpler models I've posted so far took about 10 to 15 minutes to produce the gas tube took the longest to produce around 45 minutes.

Wow, thanks a lot mastercraft, that kind of make what I was doing a little redundant, but hey it also makes it a lot easier too.

Who ever produced those drawings must have either had access to an original StG44 or had cleaner drawings to work from than I do.

Where did you find these?
