Gentlemen, I've just purchased a stand alone copy of AutoCad 2007 and would be glad to try converting drawings (particularly PDFs) to DWG or DXF formats. Also, I have three computers I could store our drawings on and could provide them directly to members if they would give me their private email address. Also, I'd be more than willing to sign non-disclosure agreements if anyone needed me to. I've gotten so much from this board but live on a fixed retirement income so I can't contribute much money, but I'd love some way to "give back." I am not familiar with the AutoCad program so bear with me as I learn.

Very kind of you, thank you.

There are plenty of tutorials available for AutoCad online, some are helpful, others not.
Just take your time.

Why don't you try converting the M1911-A1 Redux blueprints to to DWG or DXF formats? It would be good practice, and you may end up making the go-to files for the M1911-A1 in autocad!

I personally like the CAD style blueprints for some reason, and would like to see some more of them. In particular, Bill Holmes semi-auto pistol. The 'blueprints' for that pistol are in the Blueprints and Drawings section somewhere. Just be aware that Bill kept the measurements screwed up enough that people following his books instructions to the letter wouldn't end up with a functioning firearm. I think it was his of way to avoid liability. Anyway, it might be an interesting challenge.

Personally for CAD, I use Catia V5. and export in STEP files.
STEP is CAD neutral, so any system can read, and edit the file.

DWG, & DXF formats are old 2D formats, still good, but not as good as STEP.

Of course, if you want to 3D print it, you'd need STL files.

I have M249 prints that I've been trying to convert to CAD for a while now but they're either too hard for me or incomplete. Inbox me if you're willing to send me a completed file after. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I tried to upload but got an error

Unfortunately, the server no longer accepts uploads.  You'll need to host on Google Docs or something.

I'd like a set of 249 prints.

Here they are. If anyone can convert them to CAD, please let me know. I have more CAD and technical drawings for various firearms
