I

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my rear Trunion Jig and also drew up a dimensioned drawing of the thing.

I made this on a drill press. Make sure everything is nice and straight before drilling.

To use, simply bolt your trunion to the horizontal piece and lay the fixture on it's side and using the rivet holes in the trunion, drill thru the verticle piece. There is no need to remove the trunion after drilling, just insert into your receiver and drill your rivet holes. If your drill bit is long enough, go thru both sides at the same time. Use a piece of wood on the back side.

Use Flat Head as they are self locating. The two lock washers give you the clearence needed for the receiver and ensures nothing moves.

This can be made out of whatever material you have on hand. Just be sure the jig will insert into your receiver before you start drilling the rivet holes.

For use with different rivet patterns, just use another verticle plate or if there is room to drill, the same plate.

Would you please post two more pictures. One showing a trunnion bolted to the jig for drilling the jig holes and one showing the jig attached to a receiver ready for drilling the receiver holes. I built one and now I am ready to drill the final holes. I am still a bit foggy about how this is set up and used.

Thank you,

Tom

Here the pics

#1 and #2 Trunnion mounted in the jig

#3 Set up in the drill press for transfer of the trunnion holes to the plate

#4 Jig in the receiver. Just even up the back of the trunnion to the back of the receiver.

#5 Drilling the holes in the receiver. You can clamp if you like.

I have been looking for AK 47 building papers forever! I am looking to build an AK from scratch. Can anyone help me find the directions I need?
