So glad this is here was about to start a topic asking for this drawing, after I finish the builds I'm working on I want to build a m1a1 replica...doesn't have to exactly 100% true to original but look alike and depending on the parts I may or may not be able to find may not even be in .45acp. I've just always wanted one and now that the safe act happened I can't buy one...solo I'm gonna build one

This has got to be one of the most knowledegable member's sites on the internet.  I hope to build an M1A1 in the not too far future.  So many good projects to build, so little time, that's the trouble with being retired, wants too big, wallet too small and priortizing precious time to complete them all.

Nice work!  This really gives me the bug.  Did you make your own receiver or buy a commercial?  I like the wood work also,  fine looking specimens.

It Do, I have a bad habit of redoing all the wood on my builds. I love a hand rubbed oil finish on wood that sets it apart...

I have the same habit! It's amazing how nice of wood they used back in the day on military weapons, and its just a refinishing away from that beauty again. Idk if its from working in carpentry since I was a kid or what but I can't help it lol
