I started by making a hole for the selector/trigger pin retention wire. It was too low so I made a slot for it. I also milled the bottom so I can get the sand from sandblasting out.

Got the welder out and welded a little on the mag wells
You will probably have to get Mr. Grinder or Mr File out to fit the back of the hand guard, i welded mine on the sides .

I did weld the front on one side and tacked inside in the front. I will add a little more weld but may wait to see if I have the funds for a better welder after I see the income tax damage.

Now I have the top welded down it turns out I made things a little too tight. Might be able to dremmel the inside top a little to loosen it up or worst case cut welds and reweld.

No progress yesterday as it was get the taxes done day.
Went out the shop to dremmel the inside top of the receiver to loosen it up a little. Well Dremmels must hate me as the stone went zinging across the shop. USB on computers also hates me.
I stuck the receiver in the vise and took a piece of 1.5" square bar. Hammered the bar into the receiver and pushed it side to side a little bit. The upper now fits. Hammers and the vise never let me down!
Screw Dremmels and USB!

So much for my shop time. Tried up with pre-sales support in China trying to get yet another new Android phone to function with my software. But the sales guy did decode the label on BikerGunNut Chinese tripod for me.

Hey I am fast!
I started this thread May 1, 2008 and should have the Mac10 done by May 1, 2010, maybe the M11 if I order parts soon.

I want to stamp the model, caliber, and serial. What would be the perfact size metal stamp: 1/16" 3/32" 1/8" or 3/16" ?
As for the model I am thinking of going with: MAC45-Semi
MAC10 just does not seem like a good thing to use to me.

I would go with the 3/32ths. Build a slide to hold the letters in line to put all characters on the same line. I would practice on scrap and make note of the distance from one letter to another and make distance notions just outside of the slide. Engravers struggle chiseling lettering. Not all letters are the same width. Some letters are wider on the top and some are wider at the bottom. This has a visual effect. We see billions of letters and numbers in our lifetime. When a letter is off, it stands out like a sore thumb.
