If you are still looking, I found some information or your tripod. It is for a Chinese Type 56 75mm recoiless rifle. Essentially a copy of the US M20. They are still popping up around the world. I found 5 pictures for you. The first is in Vietnam. Number two and three are from Albania in the late 90's. And picture four and five come out of Afghanistan.

Great, thanks . Still looking for a pic of one in use as a seat. Fold the legs and flip it over, that's why they had leather pad on the bottom (so I'm told).
I have a piece turned to make an adapter/pintle for my 1919, hope it works out.

I do not think it very likely that you will find one (but we can always hope). I would estimate that the leather pad is there to provide a little protection for the poor slob that had to cary the tripod on his shoulder. Ater all, it is supposed to be a man portable weapons system. The use as a seat is probably a byproduct of the design.
Flip it over, plant you butt and have someone snap a picture! You might be providing the first photographic evidence that it can be used that way!

Found some handwheels at a sewing machine repair shop . Had to turn some off the flats of a nut and welded it in. scope mount or can mount is next.

Figure I can do a scope mount with metal on hand so I'll do it first. How thick is the metal on the can mounts?

typically people use angle iron. it creates a nice box for the can.

Did they wipe out thier forums? All I see is product info. I saved a link there a while back for the SG43 and it goes to product form too after a "permission" message.
I think I will weld up a "tray" for a can to sit in and see what I come up with .
