I made a change in plans on this build today. The .38 barrel is a little smaller diameter so it is smaller than the sleeve. So I decided not to have changeable barrels on this build. This will cause two things to happen, first the build will be simplified and second it will create a need to build a second gun.

I also have been thinking about my Mill choice. Last weekend MikeInMN was telling me he ordered a HF mini mill that he plans to make into a CNC mill. He already has a larger mill.
The more I think about it, I think I may go with two mills also, except I will start with the mini and do the CNC thing later with it. This way I could have a mill sooner then waiting to save up for a larger one.

dcorb,
Looking good!
More machines=good. If you get the HF mini (with the square column) you are in the ballpark for CNC. But I am concerned about its capacity.
What size barrel are you shooting for? It looks like a 7incher to me?

midmich, the barrels are ~ 6.5".
One thing the sucks about a double barrel is you get to do things twice.

dcorb,
Smoking HOT! That looks awesome!
Update for everyone.
I just got my reamers in: 9mm and 357. Also, got one lb of kasenite. The kasenit says that you can immerse your mild steel for up to 1hr (at 1650F). Quench in COLD water.
Still lots to go before I get to hardening...
Hey, where is our buddy- Inabadhood? I haven't seen him in a LONG time... kinda miss that guy!

1/2" is a little bit "overkill" isn't it?

Not really as it will contain the firing pins. It will be a little less than 1/2"
